About James O’Keefe

James O'Keefe, 26, is an investigative journalist and filmmaker. He is president of Project Veritas, a non-profit organization dedicated to training video muckrakers nationwide. James’ investigations expose corruption and malfeasance in major taxpayer-funded institutions, including ACORN, Planned Parenthood, the U.S. Census Bureau, and elected officials. His most recent expose featured the New Jersey teachers union and was hailed by N.J. Governor Chris Christie as "enlightening and enraging."

James is most well-known for his 2009 ACORN investigation, which exposed systematic corruption in multiple offices, such as the facilitation of child prostitution, human trafficking, and tax evasion. The U.S. House and Senate promptly voted to defund ACORN and the U.S. Census cut ties with the group. The organization was ultimately forced to disband.

In addition to his own reporting, James is committed to empowering the next generation of citizen journalists. From student newspaper editors to bloggers to video producers, enterprising young reporters across the country look to James for inspiration, advice, and encouragement.

He started his own career as a journalist writing for the Daily Targum at his alma mater, Rutgers University, before founding and editing The Rutgers Centurion. There he made a point about political-correctness run amok, successfully leading a campaign to ban Lucky Charms cereal from the school cafeteria because it stereotypes Irish people.

Executive Director, Republican Study Committee

About the Republican Study Committee

The Republican Study Committee is a group of over 115 House Republicans organized for the purpose of advancing a conservative social and economic agenda in the House of Representatives. The Republican Study Committee is dedicated to:

  • a limited and Constitutional role for the federal government,
  • a strong national defense,
  • the protection of individual and property rights,
  • and the preservation of traditional family values.
The RSC reviews each piece of legislation under consideration on the House floor using six guiding principles, printed on our "Conservative Check Card" and listed below:
  1. Less Government - Does the bill tend to reduce government regulations, size of government, or eliminate entitlements or unnecessary programs?

  2. Lower Taxes - Does the bill promote individual responsibility in spending, or reduce taxes or fees?

  3. Personal Responsibility - Does the bill encourage responsible behavior by individuals and families and encourage them to provide for their own health, safety, education, moral fortitude, or general welfare?

  4. Individual Freedom - Does the bill increase opportunities for individuals or families to decide, without hindrance or coercion from government, how to conduct their own lives and make personal choices?

  5. Stronger Families - Does the bill enhance the traditional American family and its power to rear children without excessive interference from the government?

  6. Domestic Tranquility, National Defense - Does the bill enhance American security without unduly burdening civil liberty?
The group has played a major role in key policy areas including budget, appropriations, taxes, education, Social Security reform, defense, deregulation, and general government reform. The Republican Study Committee is an independent research arm for Republicans.

Republican Study Committee History
In 1973, Rep. Phil Crane (R-IL) and others founded the RSC and gave conservatives a place to call home in the House of Representatives.  The first executive director of the RSC was Ed Feulner, who currently serves as President of Heritage Foundation. The group functioned as a Legislative Service Organization until such groups were abolished under House rules in the first days of the 104th Congress (1995).

Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN) was the last Chairman of the RSC before it was abolished. Shortly thereafter, the group was re-started as the Conservative Action Team (CATs) under new founders Rep. John Doolittle (R-CA), Ernest Istook (R-OK), Sam Johnson (R-TX), and Dan Burton. These four Members rotated chairmanships until 1998 when Rep. David McIntosh (R-IN) became Chairman.

Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ) became the CATs chairman in 2000 and returned the group to its historic name, the RSC, in 2001. Rep. Shadegg was succeeded by Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC) in the 108th Congress (2003-2004), Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) in the 109th Congress (2005-2006), and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) in the 110th Congress (2006-2007). The current RSC Chairman is Rep. Tom Price (R-GA).

The RSC was founded to serve as an "ideological rallying point" where like-minded conservatives can coordinate their activities and stand on the basis of principle - where a minority of committed men and women without years of seniority or formal leadership positions can affect change. They can do it on their first day in Congress. They can do it by coming up with a sound policy idea and by articulating a powerful position in debate. They can do it by serving actively in the RSC and by making it their home and family during their tenure in Congress.

CAPITOL HILL PREMIERE OF

 "TRIUMPH OF THE SPIRIT"

Join special guests Senators Joseph Lieberman (I -CT), Sam Brownback (R-KS) along with Rep. Russ Carnahan (D- MO) for the Washington, DC premiere of the new documentary entitled, "Triumph of the Spirit"; a powerful and poignant film on the life of Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis, founder and president of Hineni, the internationally renowned Torah outreach organization. This very special screening will take place on April 15, 2010 at 6:00 pm at the Capitol Visitor's Center in Washington.

"Triumph of the Spirit" is an original 20-minute documentary that serves as a testimonial to the resilience of the Jewish people and the power of faith in G-d during the Holocaust. The film demonstrates that the spirit of man is infinitely more powerful than Hitler or his mighty armies and that the flame of faith is more intense than the fires of the crematorium. While the vintage photos, the music and the images are all captivating, it is Rebbetzin Jungreis' personal story and voice that penetrates the soul and touches the deepest recesses of the heart.

The Hon. Fred Zeidman, Chairman of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council and Mrs. Hadassah Lieberman will be accorded special tribute on this occasion, as many members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate will be in attendance for the screening. Senators Lieberman, Brownback and Rep. Carnahan will be "welcoming and honoring Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis, the First Lady of the world-wide Jewish community" as she bears witness to the Nazi horrors - praying that it shall never happen again.

                            (Between Constitution and Independence Avenues)

Since the establishment of Hineni, over four decades ago, thousands of assimilated and alienated Jews have returned to a Torah true life through the innovative programs initiated by Rebbetzin Jungreis. "I am deeply honored to travel to our nation's capitol for the screening of 'Triumph of the Spirit', said Rebbetzin Jungreis. It is my fervent hope that the positive and uplifting messages of hope and faith will continue to inspire those who will shape our future", she said.

Founded in 1973 by Esther Jungreis Hineni International (a 501(c)3) believes that spiritual and philosophical guidance have an important place in today's complex and turbulent world. Modern life is filled with conflict and constant stress. The pressures of everyday life weigh us down, and many of us have lost the strength that faith brings. Without always knowing it, something in us seeks the lasting joy, the inner calm and tranquility of a life linked to traditions and biblical values.

Media Bias and the Fight to Protect First Amendment

 Featuring
Seton Motley

Listen as Seton Motley of Media Research Center (MRC) discusses the latest news of the day and demonstrates how the media (mis)treats it.  He will explain how Mark Lloyd (FCC Chief Diversity Officer), localism, media diversity and other moves by government to stifle free speech affect the fight to protect the First Amendment from regulatory assault.

Seton Motley is the MRC’s Director of Communications and a Contributing Editor for NewsBusters.org. He is in charge of incorporating the many arms of the MRC into a proactive response to liberal media bias and assaults on the First Amendment. He currently heads up the MRC’s Free Speech Alliance, made up of seventy organizations dedicated to ensuring that talk radio isn’t regulated out of existence.

Motley has written, lectured, debated and been a television (incl. Glen Beck, Fox & Friends, Neil Cavuto, America’s News Room) and radio commentator on politics and policy for nearly twenty years, run numerous campaigns, served in executive capacities for several non-profits and possesses a tremendous depth of knowledge on a wide array of policy and political matters. AMERICAN GRIT

WHAT IT WILL TAKE TO SURVIVE AND WIN IN THE 21ST CENTURY

(BALTIMORE, MD) – In his talk, American Grit, nationally syndicated columnist Tony Blankley warns that the administration of Barack Obama is a potential disaster at a dangerous time for America.

Challenging Americans to recapture the spirit of sacrifice that has historically characterized our nation, Blankley demonstrates how Obama’s agenda, with its emphasis on environmental sensitivity, military retreat, and the diminution of executive branch powers, promotes national weakness as a righteous ideal. In contrast, Blankley puts forward his own nationalist program based on toughness, resoluteness, and grit—traditional American values totally absent from Obama’s agenda.
